The Cirneco Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID: 93-3868548) dedicated to the humane treatment and welfare of the Cirneco dell’Etna — one of the oldest dog breeds in the world, originating in Sicily, Italy.
Our Board
The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of five Directors serving staggered three-year terms. No Board member receives compensation — all funds raised go directly to our programs in Education, Health, and Rescue.
Our Programs
Education — We promote awareness of the Cirneco dell’Etna among owners, breeders, judges, veterinarians, and the public.
Health — We fund and coordinate genome research in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and support testing for CONS — the most significant hereditary disease identified in the breed.
Rescue — We coordinate the assessment, veterinary care, and rehoming of Cirnechi in need, working with partner assessors in Italy and the United States.
