The Cirneco Foundation is committed to the health and longevity of Cirnechi through advocacy, education, and research. Our current and ongoing efforts include:

  • Advancing the understanding of diseases, genetic anomalies, injuries, and other health issues affecting the breed
  • Supporting and funding research into Cirneco genetics, breeding practices, and overall health
  • Partnering with the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine to generate a high-quality reference genome for the Cirneco dell’Etna — View our Genome Proposal
  • Monitoring genetic anomalies as they are discovered, including Cirneco Oculo-Neurological Syndrome (CONS), for which broader participation is needed to establish its relevance — Learn more about CONS information and testing
  • Building a comprehensive, publicly accessible database of health data, scientific studies, and educational materials for owners, veterinarians, and researchers — our health library is already underway — Access our Health Library
